These can be removed from the turtle/fish with much less trauma to the animal (just hold the hook with a small pliers). Scott, who suggested this, also says it's easy to file the barb off of a regular hook. Happy fishing!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09474242060230720751noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7177734302481866469.post-52407116177237660232009-06-28T19:31:19.097-07:002009-06-28T19:31:19.097-07:00As I'm sure I've told you, my dad's a ...As I'm sure I've told you, my dad's a hardcore republican, so he doesn't believe that humans cause global warming and he believes in gun rights. I'm undecided about global warming, but I think it's foolish to believe that 8(?) billion humans on the earth don't cause some kind of impact on the earth. I would agree with the outlaw ing of hunting, but for some reason, I can't see the fishing thing. I suppose because of our culture that has deemed fishing a natural passtime, whereas hunting hasn't had that label yet. Or because you can't really do too much damage to someone with a fishing rod as opposed to a rifle. I think limiting one's impact on the earth is a necessary thing where it's reasonable. Limting car emissions and creating legislation that restricts pollution is the right path, but it can get out of control, like when you can't have cut flowers in your home because you're technically killing a plant. I think when I originally starting typing this, I had some kind of point, but I don't think I do. I'm kind of rambling now. So yeah...This is Jen, btw.j_crohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01831534497925850521noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7177734302481866469.post-10176183027777459382009-06-27T20:20:52.626-07:002009-06-27T20:20:52.626-07:00I agree :) I just wanted to make this post arrive ...I agree :) I just wanted to make this post arrive at the idea of seeing, rather than at what opinion I personally hold.Emilyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13583889202981612607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7177734302481866469.post-21151662387856086452009-06-27T19:44:07.900-07:002009-06-27T19:44:07.900-07:00Very interesting. Who knows, that turtle having a hook stuck in it could cause all the antelopes in Africa to go extinct sometime next year. Or not. :) Anyway, I might suggest a third option to go along with your two. It's actually a combination of your two. We could try to limit our impact on nature by outlawing hunting and fishing, while also understanding that just by existing, we change our environment. And we also need to fix global warming. :) That's just my opinion though.mattmichrinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17427496222519161143noreply@blogger.com
